Chi Pi Omega

(Above) Chi Pi Omega Chartering Celebration, May 22, 2004.

On May 22, 2004, the New Millennium Ivy Pearls Interest Group finally capitalized on four years of hard work and community service by becoming Chi Pi Omega Chapter in a chartering ceremony held at Georgia Southern University. This was the second chartering ceremony to be conducted by Soror Irene Westbrooks McCollum, South Atlantic Regional Director, National Secretary, Soror Carolyn House Stewart, assisted Soror McCollum with the ceremony. A luncheon immediately followed the ceremony with guests including former Second National Vice President, Soror Jatisha Marsh, local dignitaries, representatives of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, family members, and friends. At the luncheon, Alton West provided musical selections and Rev. C. Frank Cobb, Pastor of Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church, gave the invocation. A special salute was given to Soror Ivy Joy Lee, who was a member of the New Millennium Ivy Pearls Interest Group, but became an Ivy Beyond the Wall before the chartering date. Following the chartering luncheon, Soror McCollum convened the initial chapter meeting where officers were elected. 

 

The first chapter officers included: Dorothy A. Battle, President; Dorice Sherrod-Shumake, Vice President; Jamie Ellis, Recording Secretary and Graduate Advisor to Lambda Kappa Chapter; Daphne Elliot, Assistant Recording Secretary; Kimberly Clemons, Financial Secretary; Anchelle Lewis, Treasurer; Tajmina Karry, Correspondence Secretary ; Elaina Chance, Ivy Leaf Reporter Saundra Cobb, Chaplain; Erselyn Simmons, Hostess.
